After an extended “lock-out” from Vietnam due to Covid 19 restrictions, Hai and I are back in Saigon!  We’re now continuing to eat as fast as we can in order to update all of our favorite neighborhood eateries and Saigon street food vendors here in town and in a few other locations in Vietnam.

Here are a few more of our findings.

Saigon Street Food

Mì Quảng Hoi An

This place is filled with memories for Hai and I!

It sits across the street from the Olympic-size swimming pool where we often swam before enjoying excellent Mì Quảng here.

We’re happy to report, it’s still open and serving a really delicious bowl of Mì Quảng.

Đồi Mơ (Dream Hills),

Cam Ranh

[CLOSED – OUT OF BUSINESS]

We stopped here to enjoy some relaxing time one evening last week while we were visiting Cam Ranh.  Sadly, we discovered that this cafe is permanently closed.

Bánh Canh Chả Cà,

Cam Ranh

While we disappointed to find the Dream Hills cafe permanently closed in Cam Ranh, the really great news was that the excellent neighborhood eatery serving perhaps the world’s best Bánh Canh Chả Cà was still thriving! YUM!

Viet Pizza (Bánh Tráng Nướng)

Hard-to-find? YES.  Tucked away in a tiny ally? YES.  A really fun food adventure? YES

And thank goodness, it’s still open and still yummy!

BONBON RESIDENCE

Bon Bon Residences

Once again, Hai and I are calling Bon Bon Residences “home” for our extended stay here in Saigon.

As comfortable, convenient, and pleasant a stay as ever!

AND, the giraffes are still here!

Swensen’s Ice Cream

It was critically important to find out early in our return to Saigon whether or not Swensen’s survived the Covid crisis and was still open for business.

Great news … it’s still open and the hot fudge is still major yum!

Chao Saigon

Chiều Cháo Lòng

My very first lunch back in Saigon (it’s still here!).

Who ever thought that porridge could be this delicious?!

That’s it for now.  Time for my “civil service” coffee break!

We promise we’ll keep eating to keep you updated on Saigon’s street food scene.

Our work is never done!  🙂
