Fruit Cups and Sinh Tố ... These are a few of my favorite things!

In recent posts, I mentioned that this was Hai and my very first visit to Quy Nhơn. We really loved this wonderful city by the sea!

Excellent seafood!    Beautiful beaches!   No crowds!   And refreshing sea breezes, at least during the week before the Lunar New Year holiday!  (I’m guessing the crowds might appear next week when the nation begins its Tết holiday travel en masse.)

In addition to all that, we found the perfect place in Quy Nhơn for dessert each night – Sinh Tố Nhung.

Here, at Sinh Tố Nhung in Quy Nhơn center city, we found the absolute best fruit cup since I discovered and became addicted to fruit cups in HaNoi over a decade ago .

A large quantity of freshly peeled fruits – mango, avocado, pineapple,  quả na (custard apple) and more (hold the durian please!)  All that ripened fruit covered with sweetened condensed milk poured over shaved ice … and topped with crispy toasted coconut slices.  MAJOR YUM!

Refreshing! Delicious! A totally satisfying after-dinner treat (and, on-balance, a relatively healthy dessert).

So good, in fact, that the following evening we returned to again get our daily fix of fresh local fruit.  This time, I opted for less condensed milk and ordered a plate of just sliced fruit over shaved ice.  Again, so fresh, so flavorful, and even more healthy!

And finally, for our last night in Quy Nhơn, we returned yet again and I opted for a basic sinh tố (fruit shake) … a carrot and strawberry blend. “OMG, Rất Ngon!”

So, if you have some free time, after traveling to the tourists centers of Vietnam, do yourself a favor and try to spend a few days in Quy Nhơn.  And when it’s time for dessert, head for Sinh Tố Nhung.
